Warm Heart by Barbara Picinich
Hello everyone, Barbara here to share a travelers notebook spread that I made using the Winter is Coming travelers notebook kit. I really loved this kit and despite the fact that where I live in California we don’t get any snow I was still able to use this kit to document the impending changes in our weather. Where I live the seasons are really, really long and we don’t get a typical fall season like many people do. We get fall really late in November and right now the leaves are changing into the most beautiful colors and they are falling at a rapid pace.
While walking my daughter to school the other day we saw the most amazing leaves piled up on a neighbor’s lawn. I snapped a photo from my phone and love the detail it captured. I decided to use this as the second base layer of my spread and cropped it into 2.5” x 8.25”. I wanted to layer it on top of the paper from the travelers notebook kit and when I cut the photo down I left a tiny sliver of white on either side so it would still stand out from the background paper.
I layered the photo of me all bundled up and added an even larger border to that 3x4 photo so it would pop against the leaf photo. I stamped the Warm Heart sentiment on one of the journaling cards from the Best of the Best main kit and layered it with a strip of the stripped paper from the travelers notebook kit just to add an additional pop of color.
On the right side of the spread I layered another paper from the travelers notebook kit and two journaling cards from the Best of the Best kit. I loved the tree card and the colors in the card were really fall like for me. And since I’m a huge mustard yellow fan that Good and Bad journaling card was a must use for me. I thought about stamping the emoji faces from the Feel it All mini kit onto the card but wanted them to stand out a bit more so I used a small circle punch and punched them out of the paper from the Feel it All mini kit. I used the Winter is Coming stamp vertically along the side of the journaling card and to date the spread I used a stamp from the 365 Days stamp set in the lower right corner. I love this little stamp and can see using it quite a bit on projects or directly on top of photos.
I hope the changing seasons are good to you and I hope you have fun documenting it all, this month’s kits are certainly perfect for it.
