October Guest Designer - Juli Maniago

October Guest Designer - Juli Maniago

We are very happy to introduce our guest designer for the October release, Juli Maniago. Juli is a former Creative Team member so we are very happy to have her back working with the kits and stamps. Juli has an amazing style and we think you will love the two projects she made for us.

But before we do that we asked Juli a few questions about her scrapbooking history and her design aesthetic so we can all get to know her a little bit better.

How long have you been scrapbooking and what is your history with the craft?

I started scrapbooking in 2012, during my freshman year of college. I started scrapbooking because I wanted to gift my boyfriend a scrapbook for our anniversary because I knew he was painting me something. Frantic, I tried to think of something I could make, despite the fact I've never considered myself a creative or crafty person. I figured I could handle gluing pictures to paper. Since then, I've been hooked.

What are your favorite types of projects that you like to make?

Since I've started scrapbooking, I've always worked with pocket pages/Project Life style documenting, mostly 9x12 or 12x12 spreads. From time to time, I'll dabble in some full page layouts and Traveler's Notebook pages.

Do you like to scrapbook certain types of stories?

I like to focus on family/friend time, special events, and vacations. I'm not the best at documenting mundane, every day things, though it's something I'm trying to get better at.

What is your go to style of scrapbooking?

When I first got into scrapbooking, I was all about big embellishments but over the years, I've adapted my style into a much more simple aesthetic with simple embellishing. I love contrast on my pages and photos whether it be with big, bold fonts or colors. My pages are pretty clean cut with the occasional torn edge here and there.

What is your scrapbooking philosophy?

I've always been obsessed with keeping memories - whether it be through photos, videos, or words. When I stumbled upon scrapbooking, it's like a whole world of everything I was obsessed in with life opened up to me. As much as I love putting together my pages, I love going through them even more. I'm nostalgic by nature and it's amazing to see how life changes from year to year.

Thank you so much for sharing about yourself Juli, we love how seamlessly scrapbooking seems to have fit into your life and how it pairs so well with your other ways of documenting your life, your friends, your family and big life events.

Now its time to turn this over to Juli to let her walk you thru the two projects she made.

Hey everyone! My name is Juli and I'm so excited to be this month's guest designer!

For my first project, I've created a 9x12 spread using the My Space monthly kit. As you can see, this spread isn't necessarily home focused, but through my years of scrapping, I've learned that the most valuable skills is figuring out how to make supplies work for you.

I thought the blue cards would work great for this page. One thing I love about KP's kits is that you always get awesome cards for journaling.

To finish off the page, I through some bits of green throughout the page in order to have the colors tie in together more. I absolutely love the Thankful travelers notebook kit stamp set - which is going to be great for the upcoming holiday season in addition to every day use!

My second project is another 9x12 page. This one is from February. Again, I thought the pops of color in the My Space kit tied in great with the photos for this spread. The Louise alphabet stamp set was a stand out for me in this month's release. It's a great set for titles - bold but still very clean.

The stripe card was my key for tying the colors together for the whole page and making sure everything looked pretty cohesive. Throughout the page you can find the bits of red, pink, and even green.

KP alpha stickers are my absolute favorite and quite often a staple in my projects. The alpha stickers are perfect because the font is never too distracting and the size is great for 3x4 cards.

I loved putting these projects together for this month's KP release! Thank you so much for having me!
