Training 101 by Jen Carlson
Well it’s been quite a while since I’ve officially been enrolled in school, but I have taken my fair share of training classes for work. I couldn’t resist the adorable script and pencil designs in the Back to School Mini kit and wanted to use them to document one of my recent class experiences.
I started with the red quote card and wanted to add a little something to it. The binder clip stamp is the cutest so I added it to the upper left of my card. Simple, yet a great design. The red card balances out the color of the overall layout by pairing with the apple card in the opposite corner.
The teal “NOTES” journaling card was created using the digital version of a card from the Yes main kit. These are available to subscribers, but you could easily add printed text to a physical card by running it through your printer or scanning it and adding a journaling layer in Photoshop. “NOTES” is a sticker from the mini kit and the white arrow pointing to “Tue” was created in Photoshop.
The apple journaling card was a digital version as well! I just cropped the 4x4 digital and added my journaling in Photoshop. Again, this could be easily done with the physical version as well. This is a great example of how you can take a card with an image and use that open space to your advantage.
Layering stamps were used for the pencil journaling card from the mini kit. These types of stamps are so customizable! You can leave them as an outline alone or add in some colored layers to match your photos. And speaking of pencils, did you know a great trick for getting an evenly stamped image is to swipe an eraser over the acrylic stamp surface before the first inking?! It roughs up the surface a little to allow your ink to stick and transfer without blotchiness!
