Happy Birthday by Anja Wade
I had a great time using this month’s release to document a backyard birthday party we threw for my mom a few months ago. Every month I think, “this is my new favorite color scheme”, but this IS my new favorite color scheme! I realized right away that the colors in this months Yes kit would be perfect for this event. I printed out my pictures, and then chose some of my favorite cards from the main kit. Narrowing it down to a few favorites was a little tricky this month.
I wanted to use the new Roosevelt alphabet to make a title card, but I needed to do a few trial runs before I got the placement and colors right. I tested out my design on scrap paper before stamping the final copy.
To finish my title card, I added a shimmery watercolor wash, and some vellum strips stamped with a fun phrase and the date. I’m so excited about the stamp set that comes with this month’s main kit, especially the date stamps. My trusty roller date stamp is fine, but I LOVE this fresh, new way to date my layouts!
I also love the “important details” stamp. It’s perfect for adding extra journaling to your layouts. I used it to caption many of my pictures on this layout. I stamped on vellum, typed my journaling, then cut out the stamped images and stapled them to my pictures.
The “you keep getting better with age” stamp from the At the Vineyard stamp set was too perfect for this event. It works for seventieth birthdays just as well as it works for wine! I had to use it to embellish my favorite striped card.
The checklist card was a fun way to jot down some quick details about the day. I love journaling in lists!
I used a couple other journaling cards to fill in the rest of the essential facts about the day, adding a little stamping to each.
