Flying Solo by Theresa Doan
Hello everyone! Theresa here to share a traveler’s notebook layout I created using the Road Trip and Travel Favorites kits. I love that are so many travel themed products this month, just in time for all those Summer trips. Today, my oldest son went on his first solo flights. Although he is already fifteen, it was pretty nerve wrecking for me to send him off alone. He had two flights and nearly seven hours until reaching his destination. As soon as I returned home from taking him to the airport, I got to work on this layout while waiting to hear from him!
I took home his printed itinerary from the self checkin kiosk to include in my notebook. Although the American Airlines logo is tiny on the itinerary, I still wanted to use paper that matched well with it. I decided to use the blue geotag patterned TN paper as a background. I used the “let’s go/Itinerary” stamp from the Road Trip kit and stamped that on a light blue circle label. The stamp fit into the white portion of the label perfectly! I used white alphabet stickers to spell out “flying solo” below the itinerary. I love how the white stickers and itinerary pop against the blue background.
Next I printed out a photo of my son getting ready to board his flight on my Instax printer. I stamped “today’s travels” from the Travel Details kit on a grey rectangle label. I also used the airplane stamp from the same kit on a circle label and layered both of these with my photo. I made sure to grab an extra American Airlines luggage tag while we were getting him checked in. I placed the tag in the bottom corner, then added my journaling.
I had a lot of fun creating this layout. It helped relax me while waiting for his phone call! I can’t wait to document more of his trip with the new travel releases. I hope this can inspire some Summer travel layouts!
