Spring Break 2018 by Barbara Picinich
I love when the right kit shows up on my doorstep and the Springtime Mini Kit could not have been more perfectly timed. We had just returned home from an amazing trip to Disney World so I knew that I could put the kit to use. I just loved the sentiments of the stamps and since the annual Flower Show was going on while we were there the floral themed stamps were perfect.
I ended up using a mix of the Number One kit cards, the stamps from the Springtime Mini kit, the Enjoying stamp set and the Watching stamp set on this spread. They all worked so well together and I loved how the soft spring colors helped balance out some of the bolder colors. I tend to always like to add in some white space on my spreads and it doesn’t always have to be actual white paper or cards. You can achieve the same look using a light or neutral color instead. Having some lighter colored spaces gives the eyes a bit of a rest and landing spot when viewing a spread.
Because I’m also going to be making a mini album of this trip, this pocket page spread was meant to just cover the highpoints for my pocket page album. In order to get some of the story in there I utilized as many of the journaling cards as I could fit it. I love when Kelly adds in the list journaling cards. I always have fun telling my stories in a list format instead of sentences and paragraphs. Especially for cases like this where you know this is just a brief glimpse of an event or story.
For the title card of the spread I knew I wanted to use the Hooray Spring Break stamp so I paired it with the year stamped using the Number One kit stamp set. I really love the blocks of dots and circles that you can layer over the numbers. It keeps it interesting and fun and stamping it with a color that matched the card tied the whole thing together.
I hope you have fun documenting your Spring Break adventures with the mini kit!
