Coffee and Donuts by Jen Whittemore
I love it when you have photos that just match the colors in a kit perfectly! I was swooning over that green polka dot pattern! This traveler’s notebook layout came together quickly, given the pre-planned layout from the Big Plans Travelers Notebook kit of the right page. The divided blocks were the perfect place to fit some *tiny* 1.5’x1.5” photos. If you know me, you know I love all the tiny scrapbook things!
I began by stamping the “It’s called balance” phrase from the All The Things mini kit. As soon as I saw it, I thought to myself, Yes! Eating donuts was the perfect example of finding dietary balance J. The “yes” circle stamp was from this same set and by placing one in the white square, I could balance the opposite side of the layout (with the “today” circle stamp). Sometimes I’m not certain about stamp placement so instead of committing and going for it, I’ll first stamp it on white cardstock and cut it out. This lets me move it around on paper to find the perfect placement. In this case, it worked out because the white background made it pop more than had I placed it on the green pattern directly.
I really wanted to use the month stamps from the Tina’s Months stamp set because one, they’re super cute and two, because I wanted to balance Tina’s handwriting on either side of the layout. The “Celebrate” stamp from the “My Favorite Holiday” set was just the right size to pair with “December.” I love mixing fonts and stamp sets to achieve unique looks that will stand apart one layout from the next. Then I don’t feel bad about reusing the stamps over and over again in separate layouts because I can achieve various looks.
Again, I placed the “Today” circle stamp on the right side to balance the “yes” circle stamp. The traveler’s notebook background cards from the “Big Plans” kit were perfect for these photos, but the rest of the kit has some other fabulous color schemes and are general enough to be used with any theme layouts!
