Baycations by Krista Wells
I was so excited to see the new kit Home Sweet Home & the new stamp set Wild in this months shop update. This summer we spent a lot of time exploring our own province of Newfoundland and I knew these sets would be perfect for the many ‘Baycations’ we took this summer and all the hiking, camping and general outdoor activities we did.
I’m usually the type to dedicate a whole mini album to a week long trip but in an effort to catch up on my summer scrapbooking - I made lots of memories but I have yet to document any of them - I’m squeeing all of my summer activities into one album and condensing. I made 5 six by eight pocket page layouts of our week long road trip across the province from Terra Nova National Park to Fogo Island and Gros Morne National Park. The trip was amazing and it was hard to pick pictures but after i narrowed it down it was simple to put together using the new kit + stamp set as inspiration.
I started with a large 6 by 8 photo with LOTS of white space. I add the ‘wild’ stamp with ‘one with nature’ underneath it and I love the way it pops in the photo. I added a simple wood veneer arrow as well. On the opposite page I typed a little journaling on a card form the Home Sweet home kit, added a skinny strip of wash tape and stamped ‘This place/This space’ on a little label, adding it to the card. I typed a lot of my journaling on my photos before I printed them so I could include lots of stories. I slid the ‘This is right where I want to be’ card -one of my favs - into a pocket as well.
For the next page I stamped ‘FOGO’ using the new Lexington alpha stamps onto some kraft cardstock, stapling it onto a cute green card form the Home Sweet Home kit. When I printed my pictures I left a little space on the photo of the Fogo island Inn so I could add that ‘Welcome’ stamp from the Home Sweet Home stamp set above my journaling. On the opposite page I found a green ombre card and layered a number of trees from the Wild stamp set on the bottom of the card and added ‘Out in The Wilderness’ , also from the Wild stamp set. I stamped a few more trees + ‘Fresh air’ from the Wild stamp set on another journaling card from the Home Sweet Home kit and tucked it into a pocket.
On the following page I went in a different direction with the colour and incorporated some blue. On typed my journaling on the journaling card from the Home Sweet Home kit and added ‘DETAILS’ using the tiny green alpha stickers. On the opposite page I stamped ‘So Glad to Be Here’ - the dotted lines looked like the divided highway to me - on some kraft card, tore it and stapled it on a selfie pic of our road tripping. On the bottom and final picture I added ‘feels like home to me’ to a beautiful sunset pic taken form the last night of our trip.
It was an amazing trip but to be able to document it with the perfect stamps + journaling cards was the icing on the cake of a great vaca. This month’s stamps + kits are awesome and I can’t wait to use them for more of our summer adventures. And our fall adventures. And our winter adventures.
