Hello Fifth Grade by Barbara Picinich
The first day of school is always an exciting day and ever since my daughter started school I have been documenting her first days in some sort of small mini album. When I saw the Back to School mini kit designed by LifeLovePaper I knew it would be perfect for a little mini. Since the papers were all sized to 4x4 I decided to use an acrylic album from Jamaica Makes that I have been holding on to.
I love the cover of this album and the little heart cut out gave me just the right amount of space so that the Back to School phrase from the stamp set could peek thru. I stamped it on vellum so that the page would turn and not cover up the super cute icon paper from the kit.
The rest of the album came together fairly quickly since I was able to edit and crop all of my photos to 4x4 in advance. For the in between pages I used a mix of cards from the Back to School mini kit and journaling cards from the Yes main kit. Because the journaling cards were 3x4 I opted to layer them on top of the mini kit cards to make sure all of my pages were the same size. I really loved the little stickers that came in the mini kit and used them throughout the album as little accents. I also cut the heart strips from one of the Yes main kit cards and added them on top of two of the photos.
One of the things I really wanted to document besides the actual first day of school was some of the prep and advance shopping we did before school started. I love this age and my daughter is particularly into a lot of the things a typical ten year old girl is in to so I wanted to make sure I documented it. I love the supplies she picked out so I made sure to take a flat lay shot of some of the cute things she purchased. It also gave me a chance to use the cute pencil stamp in the kit.
I really loved how the pencils looked stamped on top of the vellum and I even love how it looks from the reverse.
I really loved that little paper clip stamp from the Back to School mini kit so I added it on top of a journaling card as an accent. I love creating journaling in list forms in mini albums. I find it keeps things quick to read while still getting down the main thoughts I want to express.
Another cute sentiment stamp from the No Bad Days stamp set that went perfectly with my teacher gift cookies. And that little back to school apple sticker was too cute to not use.
I had one last page in the album, a photo of my daughter with some of her friends before they went into class. It’s always so fun to see what all of the girls wear on the first day and it’s so much fun to watch these girls grow over time. It certainly was a great day to have a great day!
I hope you have fun documenting your kids first day of school. I highly recommend making a little mini album. They are so much fun to look back on.
